Code of Research Conduct & Scientific Integrity
Institutional standards governing scientific honesty, fair authorship, reproducible data management, algorithmic accountability, and bioethics review.
Core Scientific Integrity Commitments
The BBQ Institute of Advanced Science & Technology is dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical standards across all research laboratories, doctoral dissertations, and collaborative initiatives.
1. Authorship, Contribution & Attribution
- Authorship credit is reserved strictly for individuals who made substantial intellectual contributions to conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
- All authors must review, approve, and accept public accountability for the finalized manuscript.
- Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, and unauthorized affiliation claims are strictly prohibited under institute disciplinary statutes.
2. Data Management & Computational Reproducibility
- Researchers must maintain complete, immutable audit logs and version-controlled repositories for all computational workflows.
- Raw experimental measurements, input datasets, and preprocessing scripts must be preserved for a minimum of 10 years in the institutional repository.
- Data fabrication, falsification, selective omission of negative results, and image tampering are classified as gross scientific misconduct.
3. Artificial Intelligence & Automated Tools in Research
- Use of generative or automated AI systems in data analysis, synthesis, or code generation must be explicitly acknowledged in methodology sections.
- AI systems cannot be listed as co-authors; human researchers retain sole legal and scientific responsibility for all submitted claims.
4. Institutional Research Ethics Committee (IREC)
Any research involving human participant data, clinical bioinformatics, biometric observations, or dual-use algorithms requires prior written protocol approval from the BBQ Institutional Research Ethics Committee (IREC).
