Academic Biography

Prof. Tomasz Wiśniewski is Full Professor and Dean of the BBQ Doctoral School. He earned his Ph.D. from AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and worked as a research fellow in the IT Division at CERN in Geneva, where he contributed to data management architectures for the Large Hadron Collider.

His academic focus spans the design of resilient distributed computing systems, cryptographic provenance tracking for complex scientific pipelines, and verifiable execution environments. Prof. Wiśniewski has published widely in top parallel computing and software engineering venues, and he is a senior member of IEEE and ACM.

Doctoral School Leadership

As Head of the BBQ Doctoral School, Prof. Wiśniewski oversees the curriculum, research mentorship, and international mobility for over 35 PhD researchers. Under his guidance, the school has established co-tutelle agreements with top European research universities.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership

  • Dean of Doctoral Studies and international exchange programs at BBQ Institute.
  • Principal Investigator for the PROVENANCE-X Infrastructure Initiative.
  • Liaison to the Polish National Supercomputing Centers (PL-Grid and Cyfronet).
  • Directing experimental research on verifiable computational artefacts.
